Adam Ant arrested |
|
Adam Ant is reported to have been arrested and placed in a secure hospital ward
after "going berserk", according to a UK tabloid. The troubled 80s icon, who
was placed on a 12-month community rehabilitation order last year after
threatening drinkers with an imitation pistol in a North London pub, is said to
have gone on the rampage last night.
The Sun claims that he was arrested by police in Primrose Hill, after allegedly
throwing stones at houses. Ant - real name Stuart Goddard - was apparently
taken away by cops from the Curly Dog café, having removed his trousers.
A statement from Scotland Yard reads: "A 49-year-old man was arrested for
criminal damage. He was taken to a Central London police station for
questioning."
After being placed under the order following last year's trial at the Old
Bailey, Judge Jeremy Roberts said the fallen star had suffered a "temporary
episode" of mental illness. He has a history of mental problems.

Kim
Shady |
|
Kim Mathers, the ex-wife of rapper Eminem, was arrested and released pending
further investigation early Tuesday morning in St. Clair Shores, Michigan, for
driving with a revoked license. Two Ziploc bags containing a "white powdery
substance" were found in the glove box of the white Cadillac Escalade Mathers
was driving, as well as "on her property," which, according to police, could
have been a pocket or a purse. The substance will be analyzed at the Michigan
State Police Crime Laboratory in Sterling Heights. According St. Clair Shores
Sgt. John Bowers, if it is determined to be cocaine, as police believe, Mathers
will face additional charges.
Mathers was pulled over on eastbound Interstate 94 near 12 Mile Road in St.
Clair Shores at 2:33 a.m. June 10th for approaching and passing a stationary
emergency vehicle. Michigan law requires that a vehicle leave a lane between it
and an emergency vehicle. A check of her driving status showed that her license
was revoked. The Escalade underwent a routine search before it was impounded
and towed.
Mathers was arrested for and charged with cocaine possession in 2001.

Jacko
has financial problems |
|
Michael Jackson has settled an ongoing legal dispute with his former business
manager, avoiding a trial that had threatened to disclose the state of his
finances.
Myung-Ho Lee, a former financial advisor to the star, had described Jackson as
"a ticking financial time bomb" whose extravagant spending had left him on the
verge of bankruptcy.
In a lawsuit filed last year in Los Angeles, Lee's South Korean firm - Union
Finance and Investment Corp. - claimed Jackson had ammased more than $200m in
credit in a single year.
Lee said Jackson owed the company $12m in unpaid fees, plus interest, and said
the singer had taken the financial advice of charlatans and hangers-on.
Had the case had gone to trial as scheduled, it threatened to cause deep
embarrassment to Jackson, who is known to be extremely secretive about his
personal finance.
As a result of the settlement - of which details will remain confidential -
Jackson will be spared having to appear at Los Angeles County Superior Court
next week as planned. Jackson's assets include homes in Southern California and
Las Vegas in addition to his famous Neverland ranch in the hills above Santa
Barbara.
The star also owns musical assets worth an estimated $450 million, including
200 Beatles hits and songs recorded by Elvis Presley. Meanwhile, Jackson
returned to his hometown of Gary, Indiana last week for the first time in more
than 20 years.
Escorted by police, the self-styled King of Pop led hundreds of fans through
the streets of Gary, taking in the city hall where he was presented with the
key to the city. "It was a wonderful, magical day I'll never forget for the
rest of my life," said Jackson, who added that it was, "great to be home, a
wonderful feeling."
"I'm proud to be from Gary, this is the soul of America," he said. "Gary, you
always have a special place in my heart".

Britney
at Madame Tussauds Museum |
|
A waxwork model of pop princess Britney Spears is to be given a pair of
inflatable, throbbing breasts that pulsate in time to music, according to
reports.
The model, to be constructed at Madame Tussauds Museum in central London, will
be the latest waxwork to incorporate tactile features. The most recent model of
pop diva Kylie Minogue appears to breathe and whisper as museum visitors walk
past.
"There are plans to make a new figure of Britney Spears," said a spokeswoman
for Madame Tussauds.
"She'll be very sexy and she'll have heaving bosoms. But this is only in the
very early stages of planning."
She added: "Brad Pitt has got a squeezable (latex) bum, but Britney would be
the first with heaving bosoms."
According to Reuters, dance professionals will be on standby at the museum to
teach visitors how to dance in time to Britney's music.

Simon
and Garfunkel reunited |
|
Acclaimed folk-pop duo Simon and Garfunkel look set to reunite for a US tour
later this year.
Though dates are yet to be confirmed, agents for both Paul Simon and Art
Garfunkel are said to be collaborating on "initial explorations" regarding an
arena tour.
The duo - who enjoyed massive success throughout the 60s and early 70s with
hits such as 'Mrs Robinson', 'Bridge Over Troubled Water', 'Cecilia' and 'The
Boxer' - last toured together in early 1994. A one-off performance at last
year's Grammy Awards fuelled speculation about an upcoming reunion, though at
the time, such rumours were dismissed.
According to Billboard however, a tour is now likely to take place sometime
this autumn and could possibly coincide with a series of solo dates Garfunkel
has booked through mid-November.
Spokespeople for both artists have so far declined to comment on the matter.

Vandross
Tops Up Chart |
|
Luther Vandross has topped the US album charts despite still being in hospital
as he recovers from a stroke.
The soul veteran's latest album 'Dance With My Father' has beaten stiff
competition to take the top spot selling nearly half a million copies.
Surprisingly, this is the first time that the 52-year old star has debuted at
No.1 in his career and the album was only released after his family gave the go
ahead.
As previously reported on star radio, Vandross suffered a stroke at the end of
April and has only recently been moved from intensive care following weeks of
set backs.

'North',
'South', 'East' and 'West': redefined by Prince |
|
Prince released a brand new concept album via his official website as of June
19.
The self-produced collection - entitled 'N.E.W.S.' - contains just four tracks,
'North', 'South', 'East' and 'West', each of which last fourteen minutes
exactly.
According to Rolling Stone magazine, a free preview of the album will be made
available to members of npgmusicclub.com, as will clips from an upcoming live
DVD, 'Prince Live At The Aladdin Las Vegas'. 'N.E.W.S.' is Prince's first album
of new material since 2001's 'The Rainbow Children' - another long-player
originally released through the reclusive artist's website.
Elsewhere, Prince is the subject of a new 280-page unauthorised biography,
'Possessed: The Rise and Fall of Prince', by lawyer-turned-author Alex Hahn.
