Coldplay in studio
Coldplay are recording the follow-up album 'A Rush Of Blood To The Head'. They will team again with producer Ken Nelson. According to reports, the group are recording in London, following a period of writing in Chicago at the back end of last year with Nelson. However, Chris Martin has revealed that the group have already scrapped a 42 songs. The new album is not due to be completed until 2005 and Coldplay are not expected to play any live dates this year.

Atomic split up
Atomic Kitten have split after a series of fights between the trio. The Daily Star says they are having a 12-month break so Natasha Hamilton can spend more time with her 14-month-old son Josh. The paper says Jenny Frost and Liz McLarnon had said her regular absences from gigs and appearances because of poor health and caring for Josh made carrying on impossible. The break ends a five-year run in the pop charts. It is reported that Jenny, 25, and Liz, 22, became increasingly annoyed that 21-year-old Natasha did not turn up to many events and left them to do all the work.
Each has been involved in solo projects and the band's management insists they will all take part in their 17-date tour, which starts next month.
They are also due to release a Greatest Hits album in March.

Bedingfield charged
Daniel Bedingfield has been charged by police after a car crash in New Zealand. Police have confirmed that the UK chart star faces prosecution following the accident.
Northland police say Bedingfield has been charged with careless use of a motor vehicle following the crash. The maximum penalty that Bedingfield could face if found guilty is a $1000 fine. Disqualification of his driver's licence would be at the discretion of the court.
Bedingfield, who was born in New Zealand, is still in the country with his parents, recuperating from the injuries he suffered. He is not expected to return to the UK for two months. He will miss next month's Brit Awards. Bedingfield has been nominated in three categories – Best British Male, Best British Album and Best Pop Act.

James Brown charged
James Brown appeared in court on domestic violence charges. The 70-year-old was arrested in South Carolina after attacking his wife, Adrienne. It seems that it isn't his first run-in with the law , he has served three years in prison. He also received a two-year suspended sentence in 1998 and entered a drug treatment programme after admitting firearms charges. Despite his turbulent past, Brown was among five stars honoured in Washington last month for his contributions to US culture.
He appeared at a White House reception before taking part in a gala performance at the Kennedy Center attended by President George W. Bush. US Secretary of State Colin Powell dubbed him the "Secretary of Soul and the Foreign Minister of Funk."

George Michael's 'Amazing'
George Michael is offering fans the chance to buy his new single, Amazing, via his website ahead of its official release. Fans can listen to a free 30-second preview of the song but will have to pay 3$ (£2) to download the single onto their computers. Co-written with Johnny Douglas who collaborated with the singer on his hits Fastlove and Outside, the song is his first since re-signing with Sony last year.

George Michael has arranged and produced the track which was released to radio stations in Europe at the weekend (of course, including 'Star Radio'). His official website reports the single is being offered for sale as a download for fans who "cannot wait for the release of the single" but there is no official word on when the track will be released as a CD in stores.
Patience, his first album of original songs since 1996's Older, is due for release in March.

Justin's writing his memoirs
Justin Timberlake was scheduled to take the year off, but it looks like the pop star will be keeping busy. He's signed a deal to write his memoirs for a British publisher. The report comes just days after rumours surfaced that his ex, Britney Spears, is also planning a book. JT's autobiography is hoped to be hitting bookstores as soon as this September.
Justin's book is being designed by the same team that worked on Madonna's controversial 1992 book, "Sex"

Bjork release a single boxed set
BJORK is set to release a singles boxed set, including every single, mix and white label, in April. The collection will also feature obscure mixes, which are either no longer available, hard to find or those which were never released in some countries.
According to a statement on her official website, bjork.com: "Looks like some sort of itch is setting in, because for seven years, we have had plans to make a singles box set and it guess what - that soup is being stirred again as it certainly looks like it is has gotten a confirmed final release for April!"
The release follows 2002's 'Greatest Hits' collection and 'Vespertine' the year before.
Bjork is expected to release her new studio album later this year.
