Cindy Lauper 'At Last'
Cindy Lauper's Official Website has announced the release of her new album in November 18. Cyndi Lauper has recorded an album of standards, titled 'At Last'. Cindy sings cover songs such classics as the Righteous Brothers' "Unchained Melody," the Burt Bacharach/Hal David gem "Walk On By," and Smokey Robinson's "You Really Got A Hold On Me."
Cyndi has teamed with Tony Bennett on the song "Makin' Whoopee," which has been recorded by Louis Armstrong, Rosemary Clooney, Nat King Cole, Ray Charles and Bennett himself.
The project was produced by Russ Titelman, who has worked with Eric Clapton, George Benson, the Bee Gees, Chaka Khan and George Harrison, among others. At Last will be released on Epic Records, the label that launched her career in 1984 with the album She's So Unusual.

Track Listing for At Last:
At Last, Walk On By, Stay, La Vie En Rose, Unchained Melody, 'Til You Come Back To Me (featuring Stevie Wonder), Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood, You Really Got A Hold On Me, My Baby Just Cares For Me, If You Go Away, Makin' Whoopee" (featuring Tony Bennett), Hymn To Love and Sunny Side Of The Street.

Deep Purple's Bananas
Deep Purple has released their new studio album on October 7, titeled 'Bananas'. It's their first studio album since 1998 and it's the first collaboration of Don Airey, who replaced original keyboardist Jon Lord in 2001. Airey is well-known for his previous work with Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Whitesnake, Jethro Tull, Brian May, Gary Moore, Michael Schenker Group, Cozy Powell and countless others. The first single out from this album is "House of Pain".
'Bananas' recently debuted on the European sales chart at No 13 overall, indicating that it could be Deep Purple's biggest album in Europe since 1984's 'Perfect Strangers'.
For those who don't know Deep Purple, they emerged in the late 60's and had hit singles such as 'Smoke on the Water', 'Black Night', and 'Burn'.
Deep Purple will start their tour in North America in January 2004.

Alex Parks wins UK Fame Academy
BBC- Radio 1 reported: Alex Parks has won the second series of 'Fame Academy' on Saturday 4, winning a £1m recording contract and a London flat for a year. She gathered more than 4.5 million viewers' votes, beating Alistair in the final round. Carolynne was knocked out of the competition earlier in the evening.
Later on, Alex admitted she didn't expect to win: "It was amazing to win, I really didn't expect it. I always thought Paris would win." Even the headmaster Richard Park couldn't find a bad word to say after she performed her own tune, 'Maybe That's What It Takes': "That was extraordinarily moving. Your talent is outstanding, outrageous... That was truly beautiful and quite sincerely, I am moved. Fabulous."
Alex also impressed the audience with her performances of John Lennon's 'Imagine', Tracy Chapman's 'Baby Can I Hold You', and 'Beautiful' by Christina Aguilera. Both of the finalists did duets with Daniel Bedingfield, but he couldn't stay neutral on who he wanted to win, urging everyone to vote for Alex. A "dèjà vu" scenario in other Fame Academies around the globe. In France for instance, the Jury tried to push viewers to vote to 'Thierry Ariel' back in July but it's 'Jonatan Cerrada' who was voted best. At least this shows that finally our votes counts ! or does it really ! Anyhow congratulations to Alex Parks, surely a talented new artist.

Celine Dion and Anne Geddes join forces
Celine Dion and internationally renowned baby photographer Anne Geddes announced that they will collaborate on a project that pairs Dion's music with Geddes's images. Erin Smyth of Sony Music Canada said it could end up being special book packaged with a CD, but the "Miracle project," as it has been dubbed, is still in the early stages and won't be released until October 2004. Dion said she has always been a huge fan of Geddes : "Long before I became a mother, I admired and appreciated the beautiful way she photographs babies," Dion said. "It's wonderful to be able to work with her on this very special project which celebrates children." Geddes said it's a "pleasure and a privilege to create the Miracle project with Celine, whose vocal artistry completely captures our shared love for children."

Tears For Fears reunited
After 13 years, Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith, founders of 'Tears for Fears' have reunited to record a new album. Smith left the band in 1991 to pursue a solo career released the albums 'Soul On Board' in 1993 and 'Aeroplane' in 2000. Orzabal continued on with the name and recorded three albums as 'Tears For Fears' without Smith. Neither had any major success. Their last album together was 1989's 'The Seeds Of Love'. That album contained two Top 40 hits in 'Sowing the Seeds of Love' and 'Woman In Chains'. The latter song featured Oletta Adams on vocals and launched her career.

Tears For Fears was formed in 1981 and had great hit singles such as 'Everybody Wants To Rule The World' and 'Shout'.
The group has signed to Arista Records and plan on releasing an album in the second quarter of 2004. They recently performed together for the first time in over a decade at Andre Agassi's Grand Slam For Children Benefit.

'Europe' the comeback
The 1980s Rock Band, 'Europe' is planning a comeback. The Swedish band had a very known and global hit "The Final Countdown,". They are curently recording an album with new material, and a world tour is planned. "After the first band jam in years it felt so right, like we've just been away for a lunch break," drummer Ian Haugland said recently. Singer Joey Tempest said the new music is "fresh and hard but still with the typical Europe melodies in focus."
Europe split up in 1992. They reunited for a millennium concert in Stockholm on New Year's Eve 1999.

Luther Vandroos is singing again
According to his longtime Assistant Max Szadek, Luther Vandross is recovering and Music is his therapy. He is daily testing his voice for his comeback, even his band and his backup singers have been coming in to take part of his therapy. Vandroos has been harmonizing with friends such as Patti LaBelle and Aretha Franklin in his room.
It is encouraging to hear Vandross singing again. The 52 year old R&B singer is still unable to get out of bed and is expected to remain at a New-York area for rehabilitation.
Vandross is undergoing up to five hours of intensive physical and occupational therapy every day, including work intended to help him re-learn everyday tasks such as getting in and out of a car. Along with singing, Szadek said part of Vandross' therapy includes two of his other favorite pastimes, playing blackjack and video games.

Luther vandross had suffered a massive stroke, back in April, that friends and family have attributed to overwork and stress prior to the release of his latest album, Dance With My Father. Vandross lapsed into a semi-coma after being admitted to the hospital and was just barely conscious for a time. Soon after, he was fitted with a tracheotomy tube in his throat to ward off pneumonia. The tube was inserted in a manner that avoided damage to his vocal cords; it was removed in June.
Luther is due to release his live album on October 28. The album was recorded on Valentine's day of this year at Radio City Music Hall. Among the 11 songs on the LP are such classics as "Never Too Much," "Stop to Love," "Superstar/Until You Come Back to Me (That's What I'm Gonna Do)," "A House Is Not a Home" and "The Glow of Love."
His latest album 'Dance With My Father' has sold more than 1.3 million copies in the U.S. to date, according to SoundScan. The album recently garnered two American Music Award nominations, including Favorite Male Artist and Favorite Album.
