Robbie wants to retire from music industry |
|
Robbie Williams claims he wants to give up pop music to escape the downsides of fame.
Speaking to a UK tabloid last week, the multi-millionaire said he had a "horrible" life
and complained that he no longer had a normal day to day existence.
He told The Sun: "I can't leave the house without being hassled,
without people coming up to me bothering me all the time.
"I am seriously thinking about giving it all up, about not putting out
any more records," he said.
"I'm loaded, I can buy anything I want and everyone thinks I must have
such a brilliant life but it's actually horrible."
Robbie, who recently played three sold out concerts at Knebworth Park,
was knocked from the top of the album charts this weekend by late
singer-songwriter Eva Cassidy.

Bobby wanted by Police |
|
Troubled soul star Bobby Brown is again wanted by police after he
failed to complete his probation for drink-driving.
Brown disappeared after being ordered to carry out conditions of
probation relating to the offence and DeKalb County has now issued a warrant for his arrest.
The singer is required to attend six months of Alcoholics Anonymous
meetings, perform 240 hours of community service and make himself
available for random alcohol and drug testing.
However, he has been missing since the warrant for his arrest was
issued on July 17.
Brown turned himself in to police in DeKalb County in January of this
year where he was wanted for drink-driving, speeding and other offences.
It was then that he was originally sentenced to the community service
and other conditions of his probation.
If he is convicted, the R&B singer and husband of Whitney Houston could
face prison.

Vandross making progress |
|
R&B singer Luther Vandross's condition continues to improve following
the stroke he suffered in April. According to his J Records spokeswoman,
Vandross' speech and cognitive functions are the "most exciting
developments." "Everyday there's something new" that he's able to say, she
says. Also, Vandross responds when his music is played and "occasionally
sings along."
But despite reports that Vandross has regained nearly all of his
speech, his spokeswoman cautions that it's "still a long road ahead."
The singer has been hospitalized in New York since the April 16th
stroke, spending nearly two months in the intensive care unit. He had a
major breakthrough and moved out of the ICU in June, a week before his
latest album Dance With My Father debuted at the top of the pop charts.
Vandross' long-term prognosis remains positive; his spokeswoman says
that when the hospital stay is over, he'll be moved to a facility to
continue the long rehab process.

The Hollywood Romance |
|
Keeping up with who is doing who in the celebrity romance department
can sometimes be really confusing. Try and follow this Britney Spears
short time flame Colin Farell and her new boy Jared Leto get it on in
the new movie 'Alexander The Great'. Yes, Jared Leto is now officially
dating Britney, he used to go out with Cameron Diaz before she hooked up
with Britney's long time partner Justin Timberlake. Look, it should all
be okay, just as long as they all don't turn up to the same movie
opening after party, have a few drinks and then forget who it was they were dating this week !!!

S Club: s for solo |
|
S Club 8, S Club Juniors,... it was all getting a bit silly so it's
refreshing to hear that Rachel from the original S Club 7 and the one
who did most of the singing will be soon releasing a solo record.
Rachel Stevens, 24, has signed a $3 million solo deal. She's working
with former Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller, who says she's the female 'Justin Timberlake'.
Simon says Rachel's image will be 'raunchy', well we didn't expect anything less.
Rachel is releasing her debut solo single in the UK on September 15.
It's called Sweet Dream My LA ex'. Her album will be called 'Funkydory' and probably
won't see the light of day until 2004.

Blue singer arrested |
|
Blue singer, Lee Ryan, was arrested for drink-friving only a few hours
after being thrown out of a trendy London night club. He was stopped in
his Porsche 911 Carerra by the local police at about 4am. After
stepping from his snazzy sports car the boys in blue, ha ha ha,...
geddit...anyway, made Lee blow in the bag and he recorded a blood alcohol
level that was twice the leagal limit. The thing about this that makes it
even more stupid is that Lee only passed his driving test back in June and
even had a crash in his Porsche earlier this year as a learner driver.

Gahan quitting Depeche Mode |
|
After releasing his debut solo album Paper Monsters this summer, singer
Dave Gahan is thinking about quitting Depeche Mode.
"It's become increasingly difficult for me," Gahan says. "When we go on tour
and I'm performing, I know that I contribute a great deal to what
we do -- in terms of bringing the songs to life on stage. But in the
studio, it's like [keyboardist and songwriter] Martin [Gore] might as
well be doing it himself . . . They're his songs, his ideas, and I'm the voice on top of it."
"It's just not fun in the studio if you've got an idea for something
and the person you're working with can't even be bothered to pick a
guitar up," Gahan continues. "It seems to me like a waste of time."
Gahan is currently touring to support Paper Monsters, released in June.
Not only is it his first solo album in twenty-two years of Depeche
Mode, it's the first time his own songwriting has made it to disc.
"I played a few demos to Martin during the making of [2001's] Exciter," Gahan says.
"He nodded his head and let me know that they were pretty
good, but he never turned around and said, 'Great, let's record some of these for this album.'"
Gore released his own solo album Counterfeit2, which consists entirely
of covers, in April. "I don't think it would be right for me to use my
own material for a solo record while I'm still part of Depeche Mode,"
he said at the time.
But Gahan says, "Unless he's open to both me and him coming into the
studio with a bunch of songs and supporting each other, I don't see that there's
any point in going on and making another Depeche Mode record."
And what are the chances of that? "You know what?" Gahan says. "At this point,
I don't really care."
