Is Star Radio a legal broadcasting station? |
|
Yes, Star Radio is a legal internet broadcasting station; it is a Member of the Live365 network.
The following is a partial list of the rules with which Live365.com's
members must comply under portions of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, 17 U.S.C. § 114, given the nature of the license
Live365 will be obtaining from the owners of the copyrights in sound recordings. We have abbreviated these rules to include
only those that likely would be relevant given the manner in which you are able to check the Live365 system:
- The program must not be part of an "interactive service."
- In any three-hour period, we should not intentionally program more than three songs
(and not more than two songs in a row) from the same recording.
- Continuous looped programs may not be less than three hours long.
- We should not publish advance program guides or use other means to pre-announce when particular
songs will be played (we can still have scheduled programs though).
- We should pass through (and not disable or remove) identification or technological
protection information included in the sound recording (if any).

Can a Firewall or Proxy affect my ability to listen? |
|
If your company has a proxy server or firewall in place it may prevent a connection to
Live365 which is the provider for
Star Radio's broadcast. Please contact your company's system administrator for assistance. Our broadcasts run on many ports ranging from 4000 - 32000.
We would like to run on port 80, but since our provider haa tens of thousands of broadcasts, they need more ports.
If you choose to listen with Player365, you can enter in your proxy server IP and port
Live365's Listener Settings page. |

Why does the broadcast skip while listening? |
|
Make sure your modem connection is the same or higher than the bitrate. (You cannot listen to a 56K bitrate stream with a 28.8K modem.)
Note: Star Radio's broadcast is in CD Quality and therefore you need to have a fast internet connection (broadband: Cable, ADSL...).
Sometimes the buffer size can be adjusted. For Winamp, Control-P will display Preferences. Select Plug-ins/Input, then select the Nullsoft MPEG audio decoder plug-in.
Click on Configure. Select the Streaming tab of the window, and increase the Streaming Buffer sliders. Click OK, click Close.
The stuttering could be a problem with the connection between your ISP and
Live365 servers. Advanced users can traceroute programs to test the Internet connection:
- PC: Visual Route - Mac: IPNetMonitor
